Not to get your hopes up too soon as this open-world Star Wars game is still several years away from release but, Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot has promised this Star Wars adventure to be “groundbreaking”.
We’re thrilled to announce we are working with @Ubisoft and @UbiMassive to develop a brand-new, story-driven, open-world Star Wars adventure!

How fricken exciting is this! An open-world Star Wars game! It seems Ubisoft has been waiting to get their hands on a Star Wars game for a while but with EA having exclusivity rights they development has been halted. Ubisoft wasted no time sliding into the DMs of Lucasfilms with the concept of an open-world twist. After creating the likes of Assassins Creed, is there a better team for this open-world adventure than Ubisoft? We don’t think so!
It’s not just AC that Ubisoft has created either; Watchdogs, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Far Cry, Immortals Fenyx Rising and the list goes on. All of which are stand out games in their own right. Guillemot confirmed that the game is still several years from release but in and earning meeting spotted by VGC, a conversation supplied a little more information.
After questioned about the release of the open-world Star Wars game he said: “We are at the early stage of development on the Star Wars game. The project will be headed by our Massive studio, who will make the most of their cutting-edge technology, including the Snowdrop engine, to deliver a groundbreaking Star Wars adventure.”
This leaves us wondering if all the other games they have in the pipeline for release, like The Division, is going to be put on hold for now? “The implication on The Division, you have to know that the Massive studio is a large studio and they are also collaborating with lots of studios over the world – lots of inside studios – so you are going to see more on The Division in this year and the year after,” Guillemot shared. So in short no, The Division will not be affected by Star Wars as it seems they have outsourced some of the tasks, how do you feel about this?
We’ve always believed it’s good to have something to look forward to and now we certainly have that something! Are you as excited as us?
