Publisher Deep Silver has announced a new TimeSplitters game! They confirmed that the original developers of the TimeSplitters series, Free Radical Design will be reforming to work on a new TimeSplitters game.

This team will be headed up by Free Radical Design founder and TimeSpitters creator David Doak and TimeSplitters 2 co-creator Steve Ellis.

Publishers ‘Official Deep Silver’ made an announcement on their official Twitter account; “You asked us and we listened. We have been working on plans to bring the TimeSplitters franchise back to life,”

In a press release, Mr Ellis shared: “To finally be able to confirm that the studio has been formed and that we have a plan for the next TimeSplitters game is incredible”.

Free Radical Design is said to be based in Nottingham just like the original studio but as of right now they’re concentrating on building the studio, filling positions before game development starts in the coming months.

The first TimeSplitters game was released in 2000 and has two sequels in 2002 and 2005. There was a fourth game planned but development was stopped after FRD was brought by Crytek and rebranded as Crytek UK. But the series has remained a cult classic ever since.

All-access to the game was thought to be history until a software engineer at Xbox Gaming found the code in a notebook meaning players were now able to access the full game again.

We aren’t sure about you but this is the best news to come out of the gaming world in some time! Did you ever play TimeSplitters?
