New Steam Deck Works Flawlessly on Half of the Games Tested

New information about how well Valve’s forthcoming handheld Steam Deck is handling some of the best PC games out and so far testing has shown it can “flawlessly” play almost half of the games tested.

Steam DB keeps track of all the compatibility ratings that Valve’s Steam Deck tester have given for each game.

There are four different ratings, Verified, Playable, Unsupported or Unknown. Verified meaning plays with no issues at all and playable may have some minor bugs pop up while playing but nothing game-breaking.

VGC has said this is almost always due to the player having to type in text using the keyboard, which requires bringing up the Steam Deck’s virtual keyboard.

Unsurprisingly, the unsupported games are mainly VR games which is to be expected as the Steam Deck will not support VR games.

The only game that isn’t a VR game and is unsupported is Persona 4 Golden. There isn’t any explanation as to why it is unsupported we’ve just been told that “Valve is still working on adding support for this game on Steam Deck.”

Valve will be testing every game on Steam so we expect it will take a while to complete this stage. So far they’ve tested 67 games and 38 of them are verified on the handheld device with 24 being playable.
