While we haven’t seen Halo Infinite in action via gameplay for some time, that hasn’t stopped 343 Industries from pumping out information about the game on a regular basis. One of the most recent updates for Halo Infinite showcased a brand new weapon named the ‘Skewer’ that players will be able to use within the highly anticipated title’s future.
This weapon was highlighted in a recent Inside Infinite blog in which 343 revealed the first glimpse at the Skewer. This brand new weapon has never been seen before in previous Halo titles, it will be primarily used by the Banished, a group serving as one of the primary antagonists in Infinite.
The Skewer has been described as a power weapon and is said to be more “savage” as it will be a weapon wielded by the Brutes. “The Banished weaponry has a more primitive feel than some of the other factions so this calls for having a strong sense of organic matter in the content, this helps give a strong grounding and sell the mechanical nature of them. Even though I mentioned primitive in my previous sentence, the Brutes, in general, are highly intelligent and use this knowledge to incorporate more advancements of technology into their equipment so we make sure to bring in some interesting sci-fi elements to help sell the fantasy.” shared Kyle Fraser, 343’s lead sound designer.
The Skewer was highlighted specifically to give fans an inside look into how the 343 teams go about creating new sounds for specific weapons and with the banished being a large group of combatants the team had to think outside the box to create a unique sounding gun.
Halo Infinite is set to hit the store later this Autumn and will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
