The New Call of Duty 2021 report has some awesome news for Modern Warfare fans, in particular those who don’t like Cold War. As you may know, Modern Warfare and Warzone use the same engine. However, Black Ops Cold War runs on the same engine as Black Ops 4 which saw significant upgrades before the release. For some players, this was quite annoying as the gameplay from each engine is quite different. In Cold War engine gameplay is quite snappy and the movement a little more fluid, whereas the Modern Warfare and Warzone engine is slower-paced and movement is much more deliberate.
So what’s the good news?
According to the new 2021 Call of Duty report, it will run on the same engine as Warzone and Modern Warfare, which is awesome news for those who aren’t the biggest fans of Cold War and prefer MW/Warzone mechanics. It’s also been speculated that the new Call of Duty game is being developed by Sledgehammer Games.
There’s been no official statement as to why Activision and Sledgehammer Games have chosen the Infinity Ward engine but it could have something to do with Warzone being such a massive hit. Others have argued that it’s capable of better visuals which is paramount with next-gen consoles.
As of now, we recommend taking this information with a bit of salt. The source “Video Games Chronicle” is normally very reliable but no official comments have been made by Activision or Sledgehammer Games. We can’t imagine they will comment any time soon but we’ll be sure to update this article if they do.
