Gaming World News: Highlights from the Last 48 Hours

The gaming world’s been absolutely buzzing this week! From Rockstar shaking up the calendar (again) to Epic Games finally putting a five-year legal battle behind them, there’s been no shortage of drama, excitement, and industry-defining moments. Whether you’re in the UK, the US, or anywhere in between, here’s everything you need to know from 5th–7th November 2025.

Gaming World News: GTA VI Delayed… Again

Let’s rip the plaster off straight away — Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed once more. Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive confirmed the game will now launch on 19th November 2026, pushing it a full six months back from its previous window.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the decision came down to quality: “We want to finish the game with the level of polish you expect and deserve.” In other words, Rockstar’s not cutting corners.

It’s frustrating, sure, but it’s also the right call. After all, no one wants another Cyberpunk 2077 situation. With hype sky-high, expectations through the roof, and social media dissecting every leak, Rockstar clearly wants to get this one absolutely perfect.

And to be fair, they’ve earned that trust. GTA V is still one of the best-selling and most-played games in history. If waiting another few months means GTA VI lands as a flawless, genre-defining masterpiece — we’ll take it.

For UK and US gamers, though, this delay does more than test patience. It shifts the entire gaming calendar for 2026, giving other big titles more breathing room and possibly changing when publishers choose to drop their own blockbusters.

Epic Games Finally Settles Its Battle with Google

Five years. That’s how long Epic Games and Google have been going toe-to-toe over app store practices. But on 5th November 2025, the war finally ended. Both sides confirmed a “comprehensive settlement”, closing the book on one of the biggest legal showdowns in gaming history.

At the heart of it all was how Google handles app payments and the cut it takes from developers on the Play Store. Epic — the creators of Fortnite — had accused Google of running a monopoly, while Google argued that its systems protected users and developers alike.

The details of the settlement haven’t been fully disclosed, but insiders say it could reshape how Android users in the UK, US, and beyond download and pay for games. Developers may soon have more freedom to use their own payment systems, bypassing Google’s fees entirely.

Why does this matter for you? Well, if you’re an Android gamer, this could mean cheaper in-game purchases, new storefronts, and more choice in how you download your favourite titles. Epic’s victory could pave the way for a more open, player-friendly mobile gaming future.

Gaming World News The Golden Joystick Awards 2025 – Voting Is Live!

Gamers, this is your moment. The Golden Joystick Awards 2025 — one of the industry’s most iconic events — has officially opened public voting for the Ultimate Game of the Year. You’ve got until midnight GMT on 7th November to cast your vote and make your voice count.

Hosted by GamesRadar+, the Golden Joysticks have been running for over four decades, giving power back to the players. This year’s line-up includes an epic mix of AAA blockbusters and indie darlings, all battling it out for top honours.

For UK and US gamers, this event is a real celebration of the global gaming community. It’s a chance to recognise innovation, storytelling, and pure entertainment — the things that make this hobby so special.

If you haven’t voted yet, don’t sleep on it. These awards don’t just hand out trophies; they influence trends, boost developer visibility, and remind the world just how passionate the gaming community really is.

New Indie & Mid-Tier Releases to Check Out

While the giants of the industry dominate headlines, the indie scene continues to thrive. The first week of November has already seen a handful of exciting new releases making waves across the UK and US markets.

Among them are The Fable: Manga Build Roguelike (released 5th Nov) — a creative mash-up of dungeon crawling and manga aesthetics — and Syberia Remastered (released 6th Nov), breathing new life into a cult classic adventure.

These smaller titles might not have million-pound marketing budgets, but they’re brimming with passion, creativity, and risk-taking that the big publishers often avoid. If you’re looking to freshen up your playlist, now’s the time to give these under-the-radar gems a go.

Gaming World News What All This Means for Gamers

The last two days have sent a clear message: gaming is changing, and players are at the centre of it.

1. Delays aren’t the end of the world — they’re a sign of maturity. Rockstar’s decision to push GTA VI back isn’t laziness; it’s perfectionism. Studios have finally learned that rushing out half-baked games kills trust fast. Delays mean we get better, more stable releases — something we’ve all been asking for.

2. Player power is rising. From the Epic vs Google settlement to the Golden Joystick Awards, the player’s voice has never mattered more. Whether it’s shaping app store rules or crowning the best game of the year, the community is calling the shots.

3. The indie revolution is thriving. While everyone’s watching Rockstar and Take-Two, indie devs keep delivering surprise hits that push creativity further. These are the games that experiment with ideas the big studios won’t touch — and they’re keeping the industry fresh.

4. The UK and US remain the heartbeat of global gaming. From legal wins to community-driven events, these markets continue to lead innovation, regulation, and player culture. What happens here often sets the tone for the rest of the world.

Looking Ahead

So, what’s next? Well, if this week’s chaos is anything to go by — the rest of November’s going to be huge. We’re heading into award season, holiday releases, and possibly more major announcements as studios prepare for 2026.

Expect more transparency, more community involvement, and yes — probably more delays too. But that’s all part of the evolution. The modern gaming world isn’t just about release dates anymore; it’s about getting it right.

With the GTA VI hype train temporarily parked, attention is shifting to other upcoming heavy hitters — Black Ops 7, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Hellblade II — all gearing up to dominate the months ahead.

And for mobile gamers? Keep an eye out. The Epic–Google deal could quietly spark a new era of open marketplaces and fairer systems across the Android ecosystem.

Gaming World News Final Thoughts

From courtroom battles to community celebrations, the last 48 hours have been nothing short of wild. We’ve seen power moves, policy shifts, and plenty of passion — a perfect snapshot of what makes this industry so exciting.

Delays may test our patience, but they also prove one thing: gaming is maturing. Studios are listening, laws are changing, and players have never had more influence.

Whether you’re voting in the Golden Joysticks, diving into the indie scene, or counting down the days to GTA VI, one thing’s for sure — it’s a brilliant time to be a gamer.
