The vast majority of the gaming community know that Apple products are good for virtually everything except gaming. Now rumours are going around that Apple is trying to get a slice of the gaming pie by developing a hybrid games console which is suggested to be similar to the Nintendo Switch. These rumours are coming through the grapevine and stem initially from Hong Kong-based source.

You may remember Apple developed a games console way back in the 1990s named Apple Pippin made in collaboration with Bandai. It was quite a big flop and since then Apple has steered clear of the gaming hardware market and stuck to what it knows best, content creation for Macs and mobile devices. Now since the gaming industry has been progressively growing and seems stable it could be time for Apple to try and break into the gaming world once again.

There seems to be a couple of rumoured Apple products that just haven’t quite made it to market yet. One is an Apple TV which boasts a powerful contemporary SoC but this beast hasn’t moved from development testing to public distribution. The other project which has failed to come to fruition is the gaming Mac design said to land in 2020.

The latest rumours are suggesting that Apple want to break out of the casual gaming world and offer something much bigger and better. One partner which will help Apple rise from the ashes is said to be Ubisoft, publisher of many AAA console and PC games. But that’s not all, rumours are saying they’re just one of the big names Apple are recruiting.

Remember this is a rumour and needs to be treated as one, even if Apple is planning on bringing a new hybrid console it could be years away and not even make it to market.
