Sony has announced the name of their upcoming new virtual reality headset the ‘PlayStation VR2’.

The new next-gen VR headset will be compatible with the PS5, and Sony has slowly been releasing details of its design. Over the last year, they have showcased their controllers and the amount of attention to detail along with the specs.

The new VR headset name isn’t exactly groundbreaking but the tech behind it could be with new sensory features, enhanced controls tracking, eye tracking and upgraded visual fidelity.

Sony announced the PS VR2 at CES, a gadget show which is hosted in Las Vegas, you can watch the reveal below.

They also announced the first AAA game that will take advantage of their new virtual reality headset, ‘Horizon Call of the Mountain’ which is a sequel to ‘Horizon Forbidden West’.

A breakdown of the new features:

  • New sensory features: They have added a single built-in motor to create vibrations that help to immerse players into their gameplay experience.
  • Enhanced control tracking: PS VR2 will track your controllers with camera’s located on the VR headset without the need for an external camera.
  • Eye-tracking: A simple look in a different direction will create an additional input for the character, allowing players to interact in a new lifelike way and providing a new level of realism.
  • Upgraded visual fidelity: PS VR2 offers players 4K HDR, 110-degree FOV with an OLED display and a mindblowing resolution of 2000×2040 per eye.
