If like us you’re a fan of Rockstar’s rootin-tootin Red Dead Redemption series then you are likely aware of the #SaveRedDeadOnline campaign at some point. Don’t worry, the game isn’t being shut down or anything major like that, it’s just that it’s been almost a year since the last update but GTA Online continues to take precedence.

Understandably, the community are frustrated about this as Rockstar is basically picking favourites. Earlier this week, fans made plans to hold a funeral for the game on July 13th, exactly one year from its last update. They hope this will bring attention to their dismay and Rockstar will release something soon.

However, it seems that the campaign has been seen by Rockstar but the outcome isn’t quite what we expected… In a recently published blog, they commented on the game’s stagnation and said they have no plans to do anything about it. This is, great news…

It detailed the plans for the upcoming GTA Online update and said the focus has been shifted to GTA VI:

We would also like to thank the Red Dead Online community for their continued support and dedication. Over the past few years, we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series – understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be – and as a result, we are in the process of making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online.

“Alongside seasonal special events and experience improvements – plus other changes to enhance and maintain a healthy Red Dead Online environment – we plan to build upon existing modes and add new Telegram Missions this year, rather than delivering major themed content updates like in previous years, and we will continue to highlight and share the creative efforts of our Red Dead community at every opportunity via the Newswire and beyond.”

So after writing this I’m saddened to say this is the end of Red Dead Online and we hope to see you at the funeral.
