Gordon Hall founded Möbius Entertainment back in 1997 which was parented by Rockstar Games and rebranded as Rockstar Leeds in 2004. As the name suggests, Rockstar Leeds is based in Leeds, UK and created versions of Grand Theft Auto for handheld game devices.
Mr Hall lived in Doncaster and didn’t just work on Grand Theft Auto, he worked in San Diego on western fan favourite Red Dead Redemption.
Rockstar commented “he had helped make some truly amazing games”
The company said his input was “instrumental” for the creation of GTA: Chinatown Wars.
A former colleague and friend, Martyn Brown described him as “an absolute one-off”.
And continued “Gordon was simply brilliant to be around, incredibly motivating and ever positive,”
“I saw many times first-hand how he worked with people and lifted their capabilities above and beyond, driving his team, project and company to unbelievable heights of success.”
“He was an incredibly generous soul who spent a lot of time encouraging all, especially students at local universities.”
A spokesperson at Rockstar Games said, “May he rest in peace, our condolences go out to his family and friends for their loss.”
Grand Theft Auto is one of the top-selling gaming franchises of all time and we hope Rockstar continue to do Gordon Hall proud in the years ahead.
Rest in peace Gordon, your work will live on for decades to come!
