The Fortnite 21.20 update for Chapter 3 Season 3 is getting close and is tipped to bring a fair few changes to the battle royale while continuing the current ‘Vibin’ theme.

Here’s what we know about the 21.20 update so far to help you keep on top of all the latest changes.

So Fortnite changed the date of their “Cash Cup” from the 6th to the 5th of July due to the expected update. This tells us that the date has changed otherwise it wouldn’t make sense to change the dates like this.

Fortnite 21.20 Update Release Time

The update is set to be live on Wednesday, 6th July and can be expected to launch at the usual times of 9 am BST / 4 am EST / 1 am PST.

As of right now, the update is currently on Fortnite’s staging servers according to various inside sources and the ever-reliable ShiinaBR.

You can think of staging servers as internal beta tests where the new content and changes are tested and tweaked to ensure everything is working perfectly. This is to minimise the chances of bugs, exploits and other serious problems that could arise.

What about server downtime?

As of yet, there has been no official announcement from Epic Games in regards to any server downtime for the 21.20 update however we believe there will be some downtime for the update to be added to the server.

It normally takes around 30 mins for the update to be implemented. After this time Fortnite will go offline for around 2-4 hours depending on the size of the patch whilst it’s been added to the game.
