Apart from the new map changes, the first difference you’ll notice is in your inventory menu. You’ll now find a tab labelled ‘Crafting” which allows you to upgrade, sidegrade and enhance your weapons on the move making it much more efficient.

Season 6 crafting guide
From what we gathered it seems as if the crafting system has replaced the upgrade system from benches in Chapter 2 season and NPC upgrades in season 5. Now you can do it all in your inventory, blissful.
As you’d imagine different combinations create different weapons. The bow being a perfect example, if you combine a Mechanical bow with two shockwave grenades you’ll craft a Mechanical Shockwave Bow. If you wanted to create an explosive Mechanical bow then you’d combine the bow with six grenades.
Collecting materials for crafting is pretty simple:
- Collect bones by hunting wildlife which you’ll find in the form of a wolf, boar or a hog. Kill them and collect their bones
- Collect mechanical parts by using your pickaxe to destroy vehicles, the parts will drop out while farming
- Remember keep an eye on the vehicle as excessing farming will cause it to explode
Step-by-step guide to crafting
The crafting system is fairly new but easy to get your head around but in case you’re struggling follow these steps:
- Open your inventory
- Navigate to the crafting tab (E on keyboard / RB or R1 on controller)
- Chose which weapon you’d like to use to upgrade or craft a primal weapon
- Ensure you have the materials for the craft
- If you have them click on ‘Craft’

We’re still in the early ages of the crafting system and this is what we know so far. We’re sure there will be more to learn as time goes on, Epic could implement new combinations in the future.
