Ever since the original Dying Light flipped and tumbled into our lives back in 2015 we knew there was no way a sequel wouldn’t happen.
In a recent ‘Dying 2 Know’ event, developers released a brand new trailer, as well as some information about what we can expect. The main points to note is that the game will be set 15 years after the first and the release date is 7th December 2021.
It seems as if this game will be a step above the original and during the Twitch event Dying Light writer Poiter Szymanek shared: “The player will have the opportunity to decide how [Aiden’s] character evolves.” He goes on to explain that it will be based on choices that we make throughout the game. He also said: “We really put a big effort into making this character complex and multidimensional.”
The Dying Light 2 map is split into two gigantic regions and with serval different zones. Not only this, the map is very multi-dimensional the rooftops are said to play a huge role in the game. The number of parkour moves has been doubled and there are over 3000 different parkour animations.
During a recent AMA with Techland team, Associate Producer Julia Szynkaruk said: “Kyle Crane was such an important person in all the events that happened in Dying Light 1, so he must have left at least an impact on what will happen in Dying Light 2“. Also, Lead Game Designer Tymon Smektala refused to confirm when this game is a direct follow on from the first games DLC The Following but said: “The events in Dying Light 2 and the events that lead up to Dying Light 2 are very strongly connected with what happened in the first game”.
