With the long-awaited release of Cyberpunk 2077 flopping to put it nicely CD Projekt Red have had a rough couple of months. Now to add insult to injury they’ve been hacked and must pay a ransom or code from games like Cyberpunk 2077 and the unreleased version of The Witcher 3 will be leaked. Along with this, the hackers have threatened to expose all “documents relating to accounting, administration, legal, HR, investor relations and more!”

CD Projekt Red explained, “an unidentified actor gained unauthorized access to our internal network, collected certain data belonging to CD Projekt capital group and left a ransom note the content of which we will release to the public.”

CD Projekt Red hacked but not budging “We will not give in to the demands nor negotiate with the actor, being aware that this may eventually lead to the release of the compromised data,” They added that some devices in their network have been encrypted, “our backups remain intact” and they’ve secured their IT infrastructure and data has started to be restored.

This isn’t the first time CD Projekt Red have been hacked, a similar incident happened back in 2017 where a similar message said that thieves had taken “documents connected to early designs for the upcoming game, Cyberpunk 2077.” Although, this time it seems much more serious!

The last six months have been very rough for CD Projekt Red. After Cyberpunk 2077 launched with an incredible amount of bugs which lead to Sony pulling the game from their console stores and Microsoft offering refunds to anyone who wanted one. Despite all of this, they still sold 13 million copies as of the end of 2020.

Things seem to be going from bad to worse for CD Projekt Red and we sincerely hope that they manage to resolve this in an effective manner.
