Modern Warfare 2 is looked upon as one of the best Call of Duty games in the history of the franchise. Understandably, after the announcement that they’re remastering the campaign with no multiplayer included fans were, frustrated, to say the least.
On release back in 2009 the community raved about its multiplayer mode. But why? For its time the game offered much more than any other game with a variety of maps and game modes giving players a sense of variety rarely seen before.
The sales also backed up how good the game really was racking up numbers above $1 billion! By no means are we talking bad about the campaign it was a really good story, let’s be truthful for a moment, the multiplayer mode was the main selling point of MW2.
Whether you’re playing Mike Myers, in a sniper lobby, running around with a knife and commando pro. There was a glimmer of hope when Activision and Infinity Ward shared the remastered version but those hopes were quickly shattered.
We can understand from a business point of view that remastering arguably the best COD to date will have a huge impact on the future releases player base. Personally, if they just remastered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as the next release we’d certainly buy it.
However, it may not be the end for MW2 just yet. A group of Call of Duty enthusiasts are working on a multiplayer mod that will see 9 of the original maps from MW2 available for download including the classics like Terminal and Rust.
The group of 8 have promised all the weapons and deathstreaks will be featured in this remastered version of Modern Warfare 2.
It might not be a “licensed release” but it may be the closest MW2 fans will get to play this title and we will certainly be waiting with bated breath for more information.
It’s meant to be available for download later this year if all goes according to plan and you can follow their progress via their Discord server.
